連綴動詞是用來表達如『那輛車看起來很新』等的句子。最典型的連綴動詞就是Be動詞。

(一) 常用的連綴動詞

以下，列出國中(英檢初級)中最常用的連綴動詞：

         表達『說話者』表達對『某物』的認知與感受。

         Ex1 : The car looks new.  [那輛車看起來很新。] 

         Ex2 : The river smells terrible.  [那條河聞起來很糟。]

         Ex3 : I feel so tired now.  [我現在感覺很累。]

         Ex4 : His music sounds relaxing.   [他的音樂聽起來很輕鬆。]

         Ex5 : The meal tasted good.  [那餐吃起來很好。]

Note：分析以上各句之後，我們可以發現各個連綴動詞後面都是接形容詞，以描述主詞。因此，我們在使用的時候必須小心，千萬別誤用了副詞。副詞是用來描述動詞的。

Ex: The girl looks            .    (A) sad     (B) sadly

分析: 本句要表達『那個女生看起來很傷心。』的意思。傷心的是那個女生，而不是很傷心地看。因此，本句要放sad而不是sadly。

(三) 連綴句型中like的用法

like除了表達『喜歡』的意思之外，也可以表達『像』的意思，因此常與連綴動詞一起使用而構成已下句型來表達：

  Ex1 : The hat looks like a cake.   [那個帽子看起來像是個蛋糕。]

  Ex2 : His socks smells like stinky tofu.  [他的襪子聞起來像臭豆腐。]

Note: 表達『變』的連綴動詞都不接like。

   Ex1 : I'm sure that Tina will become a medical doctor.

            [我確信Tina將會成為一位醫生。]

   Ex2 : The milk has gone bad.

            [牛奶酸(壞或臭)掉了啦。]

Practice:

1. The cat looks             a lion.

2. Her voice sounds              angel's.

3. The elephant looks              a house.

4. Roy became              a teacher.

(四) 否定句

表達『某物 v.起來 不～.』的意思：

      Ex1 : The stinky tofu doesn't smell good, but it tastes good.

               [臭豆腐聞起來不好，但是它吃起來很好。]

      Ex2 : Michael doesn't look good. Is he OK?

               [Michael看起來不好。他還好吧？]
